Lick my Sticks

So blogger totally erased yesterdays post. Jerk. I'm thinking of moving over to blogspirit. The templates aren't as pretty but I'll get in there and mess with mine until it is. Of course I finally get all settled into Blogger, figure it all out and then start reading other peoples Blogspirit blogs and think: oooo, that's way cooler than mine. How many times did I just use the word blog?

Still no job for me or the husband. Got some bills today so I'm getting anxious. We gotta pay rent today and put a payment on the dog so that cuts our nest egg in half. Come oooon jobs.

Casey's Coat now has a completed body, and sleeves. Sloppy sleeves because I suck ass at PU stitches. See below whining. I have to PU more to decorate the backend of the body and sew up the seam. Both of which I despise doing. I know what you're thinking, so let me elaborate for the HUGE CROWD [haha] of people reading this thinking HEY IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T KNIT. Well, I only don't like it because I've yet to master it. I used to hate weaving in ends until I figured out I was doing it wrong and thats why it looked like SHIT. [Not that weaving in ends is as fun as say, shots at a Slayer show, but I don't mind it now.]

You see, my only flesh and blood mentor is my mother-in-law [WHO I LOVE!!! Is she here? no, phew.] and going over to her house for knitting usually means withstanding usual mother-in-law banter about whichever child is her least favorite at the time, or generally feeling bad watching her run herself ragged trying to knit AND chase her 3 grandsons around without dropping a stitch. SO I am left most of the time to learn from books, and well...that didn't work out year 1, 2, OR 3 of basic math and it ain't gonna start now. So basically I learned the knit stitch from Ma Helme, and went my merry way from there. Fucking things up over and over until the light shone in my eyeballs and the enigma of [enter this weeks annoyance here] made sense.

So there's a distinct possibility that I will be moving my arse over to the blog I set up on Blogspirit. Which means YAY I get to go change my links in all the rings and BUSTs GWW. Oh well, it's not like I HAVE A JOB. hahah. Who's drinking with me tonight???? Woooo.

Bad Day? Cut Your Hair.

Where's the F&%$ing LOCUSTS???

My husband just came home. Early. Fired. From the same company that canned me for complete bullshit. Two newlywed, unemployed, peas in a pod. Do you suppose I can learn to speed-knit to earn enough to cover rent, food, dog, and car we JUST financed??? No?? Fuck.

Puppies, Roadtrips and Feeling fat.

Well I'm back from getting married, honeymooning and all that happy horseshit. I picked up a new knitting project within days of getting back to celebrate my NEW ARRIVAL! [No I'm not having another child, do I look fucking crazy to you?] I purchased a long-haired, black and white, chihuahua puppy [from a breeder because no goddamn shelters would even give me the time of day. You have to be the Queen of fucking England to be good enough to adopt an animal, it's rediculous. YES I RENT AND HAVE A [extremely gentle, animal loving] CHILD, hang me before the townspeople immediatly. So anyway, he's being FLOWN, yes FLOWN to me when he's old enough and had a vet ok him for traveling. Anyway, here he is, tell me that face doesn't need a sweater!!

So I tried my hand at the "Caseys Coat" dog sweater featured in Stitch N Bitch Nation and didn't really run into much trouble SO FAR [except for freaking out over what EOR meant. A craftster informed me that a. It means "every other row" and b. You are a dumbass. Well, she didn't say it, but I am.] I still do a lot of BSing when I have to pick up stiches around sleeves and whatnot so the trouble has yet to come. Here's the progress so far, I'm nearing the end, decreasing at the butt-side of the sweater. The ribbed part is a fold-down collar. Knit in the small size, obviously, with worsted weight wool blend yarn.

Knitting aside, I have a lot of busy weekends. The Accursed have a lot of gigs coming up, so I got some promotion and flyering and shit to do. They were just granted a prime slot at the Minneapolis Mayhem Fest, playing just before thrash legends SADUS and SODOM. hott. So we have a 30+ hour road trip to prep for in a few weeks, I'm also a Matron of Honor in my friends wedding the weekend after the fest. Other than that stuff however I'm mostly sitting on my narrow Irish ass being bored with my life.

With summer coming, I'm starting to experiance my annual HOLY SHIT IM A WHALE phase. I will follow it by eating things that aren't nearly as good as pizza and cheeseburgers and chasing that with shakes and whatever SPEED/diet pills are on sale. Maybe I'll just go change my hair color instead. I love my red meat.

Also: booze/bbq's/metal fests/roadtrips/wife beater weather. Hooray.

Next up on the knitting schedual, after I cuss and scream my way through the finishing on INSERT DOGS NAME HERE's sweater, is another 2 flapper style "Kittyville" hats for two fabulous lady friends [this is the drawback in knitting yourself something, you're bound to have to knit it for other people eventually] and then it's on to maybe the Cabled Newsboy hat, or the Ultra Femme from SnB Nation, then again the new Knitty IS coming out soon....ooooo....

So to sum up, I'm a dummy sometimes, busy weekends, want my doggie NOW, I can't pick up stitches, fatty mcneurotic, BEER BEER, meat, heat and several projects to complete.

I didn't like that fucking job anyway...

Well, I finally figured out how to post pics [no one told me you could just use simple HTML] so this blog will get updated a lot now...especially because I GOT FIRED AGAIN!! Well sort of laid off, sort of fired. Either way it really sucks, I'm getting married in less than 3 weeks [19 days] and I have a sick child [ear infection that just wont DIE] and now I have no job and no insurance. Wonderful. I'm looking at it the best I can, I hated that fucking job anyway, and now I have LOTS of spare time to craftsterbate, work on my zine, and otherwise fuck around.

This week's knit: A version of the "Kittyville" hat from the first Stitch'n'Bitch book. I omitted the ears, and pom-poms cause well...do I look like a pom-pom kinda chick? Exactly. Since this picture I've added a pin on black silk flower flapper-style to the side. Will take a new pic later when I'm not disheveled and make up-less.

As promised...the flower addition....

BUSY.FUCKING.WEEKENDS. coming up. This weekend is my bachelorette party on Friday, and then I think I'm hanging out with my only friend made at my former job to drink and mourn the loss of...well, me. [I guess work isn't the same for him without my constant emails trashing my boss and anyone else that annoyed me at work.]

NEXT weekend, I have a show to attend in my hometown of Quincy, my buddies Inflicted are playing there for the first time and I've got a few old friends meeting me there to hit the bar [face first] and catch up. Jon is going to see Motorhead that night so I'm on my own, which means I'll most likely misbehave and end up either a) totally wasted or b) punching someone in the face. Good times. Saturday we're throwing our Keg party/Beer pong fest. I got a good tax return and thought it would be nice to treat my badass friends to free beer, pong, cards and metal. Last party before I'm a married woman! It's kind of our pre-marital throw down, if you will.

THEN its wedding weekend, which I'm not even gonna get into cause it will stress me out.

I've got some hardcore knitting to do today, gotta try and finish the kittyville hat [in its proper form] for my friend Gennipher before she arrives here in...well 3 hours. Shit!

Hellfrost and new yarn.

So not only did it snow here in New Bedford, it dumped three feet of white shit on us, which was later plowed, shoveled, and piled into 6-10 foot snow banks that now line my deadly icetrap of a street. The impending doom came via the weather forecast on Friday night, and again with more balls to it the following afternoon. "Snowed in?" I thought, "Better get to the craft store!" so after a bunch of no-funness involving errands, I forced Jonathan to haul me to A.C. Moore for charm making supplies for my latest craftster.org swap. [shut up.] I walked out with charm supplies, new glue for marble magnets, 3 skeins of yarn for...something, and probably some other things I've already forgotten. MINUTES before the store closed early for the night, no less. My hopes of crafting all night were dashed when Jon told me we'd be visiting his brother for poker...my least favorite game ever. I had fun, eventually poker was sucking the life from me and I started making charms WHILE I pretended to play poker. I was desperatly trying to lose all my chips so that I could make a getaway to the couch but despite my best efforts I ended up winning several large pots, and, again, my hopes were dashed. After a long night of poker and my indifference, Jon decided we might as well get going. That is when we opened the door to a few feet of menacing, violent snow, lying undisturbed on all the surrounding streets. Enter 2 hours of digging out van, driving van approx. 15 feet down the street, digging stuck van out again, sliding home, getting stuck down the street from warm home, digging out space to abandon van inside, and finally a 2 street trudge home with crafty purchases clutched tight against my chest. This was the last time we were to see our van for the next 48 hours.

So over the next two days of blissful incarceration within my domicile, I managed to finish all 12 charms for the "Charmed, I'm Sure" charm swap, 1 pair of simple but adorable wrist warmers from "Obnoxiously Simple Fingerless Gloves" pattern on craftster, and 1 even more adorable "Mini Boa" knit with hot pink eyelash yarn from pattern on Marnie MacLean's site [www.mlminspirations.com] Behold.

And the mini boa...

Today I managed to convince Jonathan to again indulge me by bringing me to JoAnn Fabrics so I could get some fabric I wasn't sick of looking at. I picked up some black cordouroy [I'm sure I butchered that spelling.] A heavy weight Hot Pink [For my "Hot Pink Purse Swap" Shutup.] this maroon fabric with embellished high heels on it, and some new liner and interfacing. I will most likely have another purse or two by next weekend. Anyone still reading this?

I have had 4 wonderful days off from work and tomorrow I must return to the vile, soul-sucking, meaningless horrorshow that I call my job.

Also: I'm getting married in 8 weeks. Holy fuck.
